When to plant pepper in Georgia

Circular 963, revised June 2023, prints one vegetable planting chart for the state. It does not give separate dates for North, Middle, and South Georgia. Where several cultivar rows share a crop name, the page uses the dates those rows print in common and names the row when a date differs.

How this page reads that source: Bell, hot, and hot-sweet rows all list spring Apr. 1–Jun. 1. Fall Jul. 25–Aug. 10 is printed on the bell pepper row; hot and hot-sweet fall cells are an em dash.

Statewide

  • Apr. 1–Jun. 1 (April 1–June 1).
  • Bell pepper row: Jul. 25–Aug. 10 (July 25–August 10).

Days to maturity are from planting seed or setting transplants in the garden. The number of days will vary depending on cultivar (some mature earlier than others), temperature and general growing conditions. Days to harvest: 65–80 (bell); 65–95 (hot and hot-sweet).
